|Récurrent Évènement (Voir tous les événements)

Un événement tous les 1 jour(s) qui commence à 20 h 00 min, se répétant jusqu'au 16 mars 2019

Playwright: Jessica Swale
Director: Stefanie L. Buxton
Student Groups: Fourth Studio, Year Two, Group One

The Fever was first performed by the author, in January 1990 in an apartment near Seventh Avenue in New York City. A winner of The Obie Award for Best Play, The Fever has been performed numerous times by female and male performers, in living rooms, on stages and has also been made into a major motion picture. The Dawson Professional Theatre Department’s production of The Fever will feature an outstanding ensemble of performers capturing, sharing, illuminating the stage as this voice — a voice which resonates through us all. This is a meditation that plunges into the dark night of the soul. The unnamed narrator of The Fever considers how it is possible to live in an ethical relationship with others in the world as they uncompromisingly face inequality, poverty, political persecution alongside their own cultivated ideologies of beauty, pleasure and what it means to celebrate life. Today, The Fever continues to resonate profoundly making this a necessary piece to engage in, and discuss. The language is eloquent, poetic, humourous, stark, provocative and at times, difficult and challenging. Our hope is to start a conversation, and one that is enlightening, energizing, and nurturing, opening channels of communication and understanding toward a deeper connection to each other, ourselves and this world — a home shared by all.
